Abstract

The development of a client/server system involves defining client/ server architecture and then integrating this architecture with other system architectures and technologies that are vital to client/server implementation. In this paper, we will review the elements of the client/server: resources-sharing architecture, distributed database processing, relational database, network connectivity, and network management issues. In addition, the role of structured Query language (SQL) as an essential link in client/server computing is summarized. The paper will also present an overview of the open system inter connection (OSI) standards for network development
