A study of Akhtar Sherani's Romantic Poetry.

Abstract

Akhtar Sherani made a significant contribution to the development of Urdu romantic poetry as a genuine exponent of this kind of verse. His poetry comprises nine books. His poetry is characterized mainly by the poignancy of imagination and emotions, romantic longings, passionate interest in life and universe, a celebration of splendor, passion for love, the praise of famine magnificence, random thoughts, transcendentalism, vagabondism, carving for revolution, nostalgia, indulgence, the ideology of life and nature landscaping become popular and repeated themes in his verse, expressed in charming words with unusual poetic devices. Akhtar Sherani would long be remembered in the arena of Urdu literature due to his poetic genius.
