Unified Modelling Language as an Architectural Description Language for Federated Identity Management

We use UML to model architectural aspects of federated identity management systems (FIMs). Specifically, we apply two modelling approaches: the UML ”as-is” approach and a “profile-based” approach recently proposed in the literature. Adopting FIMs as a realistic case study, we analyse the suitability of the Unified Modelling Language (UML) as an architectural description language (ADL) in both approaches
