IR SPECTRAL STUDIES OF STEREOCHEMICAL 1,3-DIARYL PROPENONES

Abstract

The infrared absorptions have been recorded of a unsaturated 1,3-diaryl propenone which typify all the planar conformation. Each compound has its distinct characteristic values for frequency range, frequency separation and the intensities in terms of vC=O and VC C. The vibrations data of uß unsaturated ketones are best treated as out of phase and in phase coupled modes respectively.
