US-China Rivalry and Strategic Position of Pakistan

Abstract

Tussle between US and China have got implications on global politics. This competition to attain global and regional hegemony is changing the world’s political dynamics and the need for adjustments in Foreign Policies of allied countries is being strongly felt. Pakistan being located at strategically important location and due to its regional political dynamics is also impacted by the confrontation of China and U.S. This paper discusses some important determinants to evaluate the effect of US -China confrontation on Pakistan. China is vital for Pakistan in terms of its defense, economy and international support. Similarly prospects of US cooperation in Pakistan’s economy, defense and its policy have been discussed in detail in this paper. The importance of both superpowers cannot be ruled out. In this qualitative study, descriptive, exploratory, and analytical research methodologies have been used.
