Repository Policy

"The Shield - Research Journal of Physical Education & Sports Science" supports Open Access to advance global knowledge in physical education, sports sciences, and athlete performance. Authors retain copyright while granting the journal first publication rights under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

  1. Licensing and Reuse Rights

Under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license, authors and users have broad rights to share and reuse content, provided proper attribution is given:

  • Share: Users may copy, redistribute, and adapt articles (e.g., translating a study on sports nutrition into local languages).
  • Attribute: Users must credit the authors and the journal (e.g., "Reprinted from The Shield - Research Journal of Physical Education & Sports Sciences, 202X, DOI: 10.XXXX/theshield.202X.XXX").
  • ShareAlike: Derivative works (e.g., infographics on injury prevention) must be shared under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 license.

Authors have immediate permission to share all versions of their manuscript, subject to proper attribution:

The initial manuscript draft; not yet peer-reviewed.

Can be shared immediately on platforms like SportRxiv or institutional preprint servers without referencing the journal.

Accepted Version (Postprint)

The version accepted by the editor after peer review and revisions, but before copyediting/typesetting.

Can be deposited immediately in institutional repositories or personal websites with the mandatory statement: "Accepted for publication in The Shield - Research Journal of Physical Education & Sports Sciences (DOI: 10.XXXX)."

Published Version (Version of Record)

The final, typeset, and fully edited PDF/HTML published on the journal's website.

Can be deposited immediately in institutional repositories (e.g., university libraries, sports academy databases) and personal websites.

Required Attribution for Published Version

When depositing the Version of Record, the following elements must be included:

  • DOI Link: The permanent identifier (e.g., 10.XXXX/theshield.202X.XXX).
  • Journal Attribution: Clear citation to The Shield - Research Journal of Physical Education & Sports Sciences as the original source.

  • Preprint Updates: Authors who share a preprint must update the platform record with the final DOI immediately upon publication in the journal.
