Study of Association between Health Problems And Living Situation of Street Children in Urban Sindh, Pakistan

Abstract

The general objective of the study is to provide information about living situation of street children and related health issues, and also to make recommendations to help policymakers for formulation of child friendly policies in country. Both qualitative method of data collection, through an interview schedule for street children and Qualitative method of data collection through focus group discussion used in this study, total 400 respondents were interviewed most of the questions were related with their living situations and health issues and Five different FGD’s were conducted with different stakeholders. Almost 31.8% street children were suffering from diseases since last five years and 29.5% were in weak health, allergies were common health problems among them but a large number was not known to allergic diseases 40.3% was have view that they are not suffering from any allergy. Large number of street children was go back to their homes in night time but living and working situations at day time were exposing to health problems. They have different modes of sexual satisfaction, 2.8% practiced masturbation, 8.8% have opposite sex enjoyment practices, 20.0% were homosexual, 1.0% has Bestiality practices and 67% did not give any response.
