This paper examines the financial situation of the university libraries of
Pakistan. The study is based on the authors' personal experiences and
observations. The authors of the study linked the review to relevant literature
and discussed it with senior library staff from various university libraries. The
issues identified during the literature review and discussion are as follows: the
lack of interest in considering libraries as an essential section of higher
education and research, the consequences of the financial crisis, and the
provision of facilities and modern equipment to users, as well as the outdated
practice of facing crises and challenges. The study proposes new methods to
streamline library operations, providing essential equipment and modern tools
to meet the needs and requirements of students and researchers.
