Abstract
This paper discusses the problem of drug addiction in Pakistan. In the beginning, the paper introduces the issue of drug addiction in a global and national context. It then defines the terms ‘drug abuse’ and ‘drug addiction’ in detail and lists down and explains the various classifications and types of drugs found in the world. The paper then proceeds to outline the reasons for the growing problem of drug addiction in Pakistan and highlights the present situation in Pakistan and the severity of the problem with the help of various statistics. After highlighting the causes of drug addiction, it then moves on to discuss the harmful consequences of this menace on the individual and society. The paper also suggests various measures being undertaken to deal with the problem and then presents some recommendations and solutions as to how to tackle the problem more effectively and develop an understanding of the issue.
