CHINA PAKISTAN ECONOMIC CORRIDOR: AN INSIGHT INTO SECURITY PERSPECTIVE

China Pakistan Economic Corridor is steeped in the grand strategy of creating co-prosperous regions in its neighbourhood with the Silk Road Economic Belt and Maritime Silk Road while providing China with nonMalacca access to the Indian Ocean for its uninterrupted energy trade with Middle East, Europe and Africa. The paper elucidates an overview of CPEC and its catalyst significance for BRI while enlisting the benefits it entails for satisfying China and Pakistan’s economic aspirations. Besides insight into security perspective, paper also puts light on hurdles and roadblocks Pakistan sees on political, diplomatic, economic and security fronts especially from the anti-CPEC forces under foreign patronage playing out on the regional terrorism landscape in and around Pakistan. The study is a qualitative one as the methodology pertains to examining the existing literature on the subject. Consequent analysis of CPEC would aid to highlight prime dimensions needed to be prioritized for successful accomplishment of CPEC important for Pakistan’s development and growth.
